2011 Training

Level 1, Parts 1 and 2, of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd training programme, will be held between July 18 and 28, 2011, at the Atrium of St Andrew's in the Paddock, Masterton.

Levels 1 and 2 training will be provided back-to-back and is provided by Rev'd Liz Greville, New Zealand's first accredited Formation Leader.

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd programme is foundational Christian education, using the developmental age of the child as a guide to the work offered to them.

It is adaptable to all denominations and can be used as a 'Sunday School' or as a weekly session to suit your community.

All training begins with Level 1 and that provides the base for the next two levels.

Starting at Creation we tracked the development of the stars, planets, constellations and galaxies, moving onto the mineral world, the bounty of the ocean, and the extraordinary gifts given to us in the plant and animal worlds.

Redemption reminded us that God’s love for people was so great that he came to us in the person of Jesus Christ and how he is in a most particular way present to us in the Eucharist.

From there we travel into and across the blank page on which we all write with God the history through to Parousia when ‘God will be all in all’

The bread and the wine – gifts from the earth that become for us Jesus Christ.

The Level One’s meantime were doing work of their own, including threading and pouring water. The last activity leads into the preparation of the cruets. It is a learning involving spatial awareness and eye/hand co-ordination.

I think I like pink best.

It's really tricky pouring up to the line!
